An exciting opportunity has arisen at Teesside Hospice for an Area Manager within our Retail Department for anyone wishing to progress further and enhance their leadership and management skills, whilst continuing to positively drive performance, ensure operational excellence, and support shop managers in delivering the highest standards of customer service and profitability.

Our fantastic shops, led by managers and supported by volunteers, work with our amazing fundraising team to generate over £6M per year for the hospice. We use this funding to provide palliative and end of life care, lymphoedema treatment, bereavement support and wellbeing services that improve the quality of life of people in North and South Tees, Cleveland and North Yorkshire.

Established over 40 years ago, our specialist palliative and end of life care services play an essential role in our community, working closely with the NHS and other partners supporting people and families who’ve been affected by a terminal illness.

You will support the Deputy Head of Retail in maximising the sales and profit potential of the charity retail shops, ensuring all shops operate legally, safely, efficiently, and always adhere to the charity’s policies and procedures. You will also provide management cover for any of the shops when required to cover for sickness, holidays, and days off. As part of the Retail Management Team, you will report directly to the Deputy Head of Retail and have full authority to deal with all day-to-day trading and personnel issues within a group of retail outlets.

Essential to this role are people skills, excellent communication skills as well as developed organisational and interpersonal skills.
