Teesside Hospice Joins Forces with Hospice UK to Celebrate Hospice Care Week 2024

Teesside Hospice is proud to announce its participation in Hospice Care Week 2024, a nationwide campaign organised by Hospice UK running from 7-13 October 2024. This year's theme surrounds hospice fundraising: including retail, which emphasises the importance of community involvement in hospice care and the critical role that local people and individuals play in providing support to those facing life-limiting illnesses.

As part of the Hospice Care Week celebrations, Teesside Hospice will host a series of events and activities aimed at raising awareness about the invaluable services we provide and promoting the significance of compassionate care. Our events include:

Open Days: Join us at Teesside Hospice, 1 Northgate Road, TS5 5NW, on Monday 7th October and Friday 11th October between 11AM and 1PM, for an opportunity to tour our facilities, meet our dedicated staff, and learn more about the holistic care we provide to patients and their families. With this year’s Hospice Care Week theme being all about Hospice Retail and Fundraising, we’re encouraging attendees to bring a bag of preloved, and unwanted items to sell in our retail shops to help raise funds to support our care.

Business Breakfast: On Friday 11th October, between 09:30 - 11:00, we’re inviting representatives from the business community to the hospice for networking, breakfast bun and refreshments, introduction to Teesside Hospice and the opportunity to join onto the hospice tour at 11:00 to view our facilities, meet our hospice staff and enquire about how you can support Teesside Hospice. With this year’s Hospice Care Week theme being all about Hospice Retail and Fundraising, we’re encouraging attendees to bring a bag of preloved, and unwanted items to sell in our retail shops to help raise funds to support our care.

Volunteer Recruitment Drive: We are seeking compassionate individuals to join our volunteer team. Attend our open days or visit teessidehospice.org to find out how you can make a difference to those living with a terminal illness

Retail Shops: Take Hospice Care Week as an opportunity to visit one of our fourteen shops across, Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar & Cleveland to discover hidden treasures, or earn rewards through our MyCard loyalty scheme. Clothing and furniture donations also make a huge impact, so please bring any preloved items, or your out of season items to your local Teesside Hospice shop. For Hospice Care Week, if you donate a bag of clothing to our shops, you will receive a 20% discount on your next purchase, until the 31^st October (terms and conditions apply).

Social Media Campaign: Follow us on our social media channels as we share stories from patients, families, and caregivers, highlighting the impact of hospice care in Teesside. Use the hashtag #HospiceCareWeek to join the conversation.

During Hospice Care Week, we want to celebrate the incredible work our retail staff and volunteers to across our community, Ashleigh Trotter, Head of Retail said “This Hospice Care Week is a great opportunity to highlight the importance of our retail stores, to generate income to help pay for our care services. We are forever grateful for the time and effort of our volunteer team; all our shops are always on the lookout for anyone with any spare time to come and volunteer in our stores. Our stores play a vital part in the Teesside community providing a place to buy and donate preloved items which both helps the environment and those that use our care services.”

Teesside Hospice has been a cornerstone of compassionate care in Tees Valley since 1982, providing high-quality palliative care, emotional support, and bereavement services to patients and families.
