Our fundraising volunteer, Rosanna, recently helped support our summer In Memory Of campaign, Forever in our Hearts. Read below as she shares her experience as a fundraising volunteer and what it means to her.

“My name is Rosanna Roffes, and I’m a volunteer in the fundraising team at Teesside Hospice. I’ve been here for about two years now.

A few years ago, a very good friend of mine’s mother was in the hospice for the last period of her time before she passed. I was just so impressed when I walked in by the atmosphere, by the staff, the gardens that surrounded it. It was just like a home from home feel.

When I retired a couple years ago I thought, what am I going to do with myself? I’ve got lots of friends, lots of interests, but I felt that I needed to do something as everybody says, to give back.

I thought straight away of Teesside Hospice, and I’ve been involved in lots of fundraising events, meeting people, supporting people, but mostly raising much needed funds.

Today, I’m at the Forever in our Hearts fundraising event, which is at the beautiful Wynyard Walled Gardens. We’ve got all of these fabulous hearts and memories of all people who have in some way been connected with the hospice. It’s a beautiful and serene environment that I’m really proud to be a part of.”

Whatever your reason for becoming a volunteer at Teesside Hospice, we couldn’t do what we do without your support.

Thank you.
