One of our amazing supporters, Phil, recently tackled the Lake District Five Peaks Challenge in aid of Teesside Hospice, and shared his incredible experience with us by taking us along his journey!

“I recently completed the Lake District Five Peaks challenge in aid of Teesside Hospice, and I can honestly say it is one of the best things I have ever done!

This was not only something that really appealed to me as I like to keep active, but I saw it as a great way to support the hospice.

Following the safety briefing on Friday night, we set off at 7am Saturday morning for the ascent up to our first peak, Rosset Pike (651 m), reaching the top at around 10am sort of time. Next up was peak two, Allan Crags (785 m), then we were on our way to the big one, Scafell Pike (978 m), the highest point in England. This really was a test; clambering over boulders before we reached the summit.

After a quick stop for lunch up at the top, we then set off to tackle the remaining two peaks, Ill Cragg (935 m) and Great End (910 m), before the descent back down to where we started.

In total we trekked over 25km, across the toughest terrain I’ve ever tackled, finishing in just over nine and half hours.

For anyone looking to do this next year: I would highly recommend you do so - you will not regret it!”
