Teesside Hospice Care Foundation is working towards becoming a dementia friendly organisation.

Hospices have been called upon to consider their role in supporting people affected by a diagnosis of dementia. Teesside Hospice can play an important role in developing partnerships to enable people with dementia to receive better palliative care towards the end of life. Dementia UK has an established track record of supporting other organisations in successfully working with and supporting people with dementia through education, supervision and direct partnership working.

Teesside Hospice is pleased to be working with Dementia Friendly Middlesbrough in achieving dementia friendly status through a programme of Dementia awareness training, along with improvements. The first training session took place on Wednesday 20th December at the hospice and further training sessions have been booked in for the coming year ahead.

A presentation by the Mayor of Middlesbrough Mr Dave Budd, will take place on Wednesday 17th January 2018, and will see Teesside Hospice Care Foundation receive their certificate on their journey in becoming a Dementia Friendly organisation.
