As you may have heard, Maureen Thompson retired in August, after 16 years as Chief Executive at Teesside Hospice. Since Maureen’s retirement, our board of Trustees have been working hard to recruit a suitably experienced replacement.
Following a detailed recruitment process, I am pleased to announce the appointment of David Smith as the new Chief Executive of Teesside Hospice.
David has seventeen years’ experience of high profile leadership roles in the public and healthcare sectors in both executive and non-executive roles and is currently the Chief Executive of Hull and East Yorkshire Mind. Beginning his career working in finance, before moving into advice work and charity management David took up his first Chief Officer role in 2001 and since 2006 has worked in healthcare with a specific focus on mental health and well-being.
David Smith, New Chief Executive at Teesside Hospice
David is also a board member at the Association of Chief Executives in Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO) and a Trustee at Dove House Hospice in Hull and is joining Teesside Hospice at an exciting time.
David is an energetic leader with a proven track record of delivering and we are looking forward to welcoming him to the team at the start of December. In the interim, in my role as Acting Chief Executive, I will ensure continued and consistent leadership of Teesside Hospice to help us achieve our long term goals.
