C2C is one of the most popular routes for budding bikers.
But it's also a top choice for first time cyclists who are looking for a new adventure not far from home.
If you want a leisurely few days and the best places to eat, sleep and drink, then this is the cycle challenge for you. The C2C might be tough but you can do it with a bit of planning, even if you’re not quite up there with Bradley Wiggins!
The C2C challenge is a scenic cycle route that cuts through the English Pennines, usually starting at Sunderland or Tynemouth and finishing in Workington, Whitehaven or St Bees. The number of days and direction is very much dependant upon fitness and personal preferences.
A four cycling day period allows the more difficult Pennines region to be split into two days, with say a first cycling day ending in the Keswick area. However, the C2C can be completed in one day, but this is reserved for the super fit. The same would apply to a 2-day period.
Any time of year that suits you!
