Are you adventurous and super-organised?

Teesside Hospice is looking for a friendly and outgoing individual with bags of energy and enthusiasm to take our fundraising and challenge events to the next level. You will need to be super active, highly organised and motivated in order to inspire others to take on challenges for Teesside Hospice.

Lots of local people love Teesside Hospice, what we do and how we do it and we need someone to make sure people within our community have access to and knowledge of the events and challenges they can take part in to support us and that they have the best experience possible.

Reporting to the Fundraising Manager and working closely with our ambitious and highly motivated fundraising team, your role will be to build, develop and make sure our portfolio of Teesside Hospice, third party and challenge events are as successful as possible.

If you thrive on the challenge of setting and achieving ambitious goals, think the only way to approach a target is to tackle it head on, and can bring the energy that adds some drive to how you approach your fundraising, then we would love to support you in achieving your goals and helping us ensure everyone gets to live well until the very end of their life.

Here’s a rough guide to what our Events Fundraiser does and the type of person they are:

  • Be out and about in the community ensuring everyone know about the events and challenges that are taking place.
  • Approach and source new support from the public, local businesses, community groups and other organisations to ensure our activity is successful.
  • Provide support and advice to people taking part in our events and help them hit their fundraising target.
  • Build relationships with colleagues and volunteers and support their initiatives, working together is the key to our success.
  • Research and identify new events that could be added to our fundraising portfolio.
  • Like everyone in our small and passionate team, you engage in everything we do! You’ll sometime have to put on your trainers or walking boots to support people doing our challenges, load stuff into vans, work during the weekend or evening when something needs to be done, but we promise you’ll have lots of fun!

About you

  • You are emotionally intelligent and have a natural communication style that is easily adapted to suit the situation.
  • You will be brave and willing to throw yourself into lots of new situations, you’ll be proud to wear our hoodie and love getting involved at different fundraising events.
  • You have the organisational skills and attention to detail to hold relationships with multiple supporters at any one time.
  • You are a confident networker who can communicate well with other people from all sorts of different backgrounds.
  • You will be someone who can keep contacts warm, engage people – making them feel valued, and loving what we do.
  • You are the kind of person that is excited by a day that could include everything from attending a site meeting, to promoting an event to a new audience, seeing how good our marque looks in the charity village at the latest run event, or helping a supporter who is worried about hitting their fundraising target.
  • You’ll have some personal resilience. Fundraising can be a tough job at times but you’ll know how to celebrate the successes when they happen!
  • You are someone who wants to have an impact, who likes to throw themselves into something and is willing to be flexible to achieve results.
  • You will be someone who is able to work proactively and under their own initiative, muck in and someone who thrives on the chance to prove what they can really do. You will have the support of the whole team behind you but as a small charity, there is a lot to do and you need to have confidence to get the job done.

Obviously, we’d love you to have experience in fundraising, but we’re realistic and know this is a niche area. If you have a background in sales or relationship management and knowledge of fundraising principles, methods and procedures with superb customer service and the ability to build immediate rapport with people we’d love to hear from you.
